Writing your first book

Over the pat couple of years, I decided to write a very personal book. Looking back 35 years ago I wrote about the loss of one of my children. Trying to navigate the train wreck that crashed uninvited into my young family, I felt alone at times, even when surrounded by family and friends. “A Gift…Only Borrowed” is that story of a young father caught up in the midst of that journey.

But, writing and publishing a book can be like standing on your front porch naked, and then hoping your friends and neighbors don’t laugh at you as they drive past.

Well, go ahead and laugh. My story needed to be told, if even for my own recollection and memories. But, it might help another family living their own journey during this ridiculous time in anyone’s life.

I've been married for 40 years with 3 children and 7 grandchildren. I spent my 45 year career in the grocery retailing industry, from bagging groceries to president of a customer dedicated national food brokerage company. I enjoy golfing, cooking, writing, all kinds of music, and more importantly watching my grandchildren thrive, especially in education and sports.
